30 Godly Eminem Facts That Every Fans Should Know

Hip Hop is undoubtedly black community-dominated music.

Just surviving in Hip Hop takes as a white artist takes one hell of a talent and effort, much less dominating the Hip Hop charts as a white guy.

But it was all before one guy changed this game, and he didn’t come to survive or rule. With his Rap, he just showed the world what he is and made the world bow to him as a Rap God.

Despite there being several legendary black artists in Hip Hop, there are only a few that come close to the Rap God, Eminem.

It may look exaggerating hearing this from an Eminem Fanboy, But it’s just an effort to show how godly he is.

So today, I decided to make a list of 30 Surprising facts about the Rap God, Eminem.

Let’s jump on to them.

1. Eminem’s mother almost died, giving birth to him, having spent terrifying 72 hours in labor. 

2. Before Eminem was born, His parents were in a rock band called Daddy Warbucks, playing in Ramada Inns along the Dakotas-Montana border before their separation.

So, Eminem does have music in his blood, But a very different one.

3. When Eminem was a baby, His relatives called him Mickey cause of his large ears. 

4. Most of Eminem’s family members and friends at the time say they remember him as a happy child.

But he was also a bit of a loner, who, sadly, was often bullied due to his small stature, and the fact he was one of the only white kids in the majority-black community.

5. When Eminem was 9 years old, He was beaten so badly by the bullies that he spent over a week in a coma.

Eminem’s mother tried to sue the school district for failing to protect him.

But her lawsuit was dismissed the following year.

Eminem’s song Brain damage was written about this painful experience.

6. As a teenager, Eminem wrote a number of letters to his dad.

Which, according to his mother, all came straight back, marked return to sender. 

Man, this is sad considering how he had to go through all those tough times without the help of his father.

7. Eminem met Kim Scott when he was 15 and she was only 13. He was apparently standing on a table with his shirt-off lip-synching to LL Cool J’s track – I’m bad. 

Despite how cringey it may seem, it must have impressed the young Miss Scott.

Because Eminem would eventually marry her not once but twice.

Moreover, He was shot while walking to Kim’s house as a teenager.

8. In school, Marshall Mathers disliked math’s and social studies but enjoyed English. He was greatly fascinated with storytelling.

In fact, before he discovered hip hop and rap, Eminem initially aspired to become a comic book artist.

Thankfully he discovered his rapping ability and went with it.

9. Sadly, Eminem’s home life was rarely stable.

He frequently came into conflict with his mother in the form of vitriolic arguments, and screaming fights.

Eminem says he worked several jobs to assist his mother in paying bills, but she threw him out of the house anyway on several occasions.

10. Eminem’s life continued to suck hardcore mode when he was fired from his job at a restaurant in Detroit, only five days before the birthday of his daughter, Haley. When she was born when Eminem was only 23. 

And to make matters worse, Haley’s birthday happens to fall on Christmas.

With only $40 left to his name, Eminem wrote the demo for the song Rock Bottom that very same night.

11. This culmination of personal problems, financial struggles, and substance abuse resulted in a suicide attempt. Eminem took a deliberate overdose of the painkiller Tylenol, but luckily he survived.

12. Eminem began rapping in his mid-teens with his high school friend, Mike Ruby.

As a part of the journey, They thought that they needed me gangster rap names than Mike and Marshall they named themselves Mannix and M&M, the latter of which eventually transmitted to Eminem.

13. Many people assume that the name Eminem comes from the colorful chocolates M&M.

Though they do sound identical, Eminem actually refers to the initials of his name Mashall Mathers, Not the chocolates.

14. During his three-hour Shade45 radio show special, titled Music To Be Quarantined By, Eminem has hailed 2Pac Shakur as the “greatest songwriter” of all time.

15. Eminem is not a fan of reading.

As a matter of fact, the only non-comic book that he has ever read from cover to cover is LL Cool J’s autobiography called “I Make My Own Rules.”

16. Eminem had his big break in 1997 when we traveled to Los Angeles to compete in the 1997 Rap Olympics competition.

Although he came in second place, his performance impressed the managers at Interscope Records who passed his name to Dr. Dre.

Then the rest is history.

17. As of 2021, Eminem’s net worth is estimated at $230 million.

18. Although the king of pop, Michael Jackson was once a fan of Eminem, he admitted that he was disappointed when the rapper attacked him in the song “Just Lose It.”

19. Universal and Interscope originally wanted the track ‘Cleanin Out My Closet’ as the theme for 8 Mile. However Eminem disagreed with this decision and made ‘Lose Yourself’ the main track.

20. Eminem considers Lil Wayne, 2Pac, Royce Da 5’9″, Jay-Z, Redman, Treach, Kool G Rap, Biggie, Kxng Crooked, LL Cool J, Nas, Joyner Lucas, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Andre 3000, Rakim, and Big Daddy Kane as greatest rappers of all time(in no particular order).

Well, this has to be the only list without Eminem though.

21. At the tender age of 20, Eminem was arrested for acting as a driver in applied by shooting. 

This may sound horrific, but it is not, cause the weapon used for the shooting was a paintball gun.

And the case against young Eminem was ultimately dismissed when the victim did not show up to the court.

22. English pop-star, Ed Sheeran has said that Eminem has been one of his biggest idols and musical influences as he crafted his career in the industry.

23. At one point, Eminem’s mother sued him for defamation. She was particularly irritated with the line ‘My mother does more dope than I do’ in the single, My name is. Although she sued him for $1,000,000, she only managed to get $1600 from the course suit.

24. Eminem’s encore sold over 21 million copies, But this was due to the controversy surrounding the elite single, Just lose it.

Just lose it has several obvious takes at the pop king, Michael Jackson. Both in the video and the song itself regarding plastic surgery rumors and accusations of child molestation made against him, of which he was ultimately acquitted. Jackson was vocally not happy with the song, saying that Eminem should be ashamed of himself.

Additionally, music legend Stevie Wonder described a song as Bullsh*t. And the source says that popular hip hop magazine from earlier called for Eminem to publicly apologize as well as advocating for the music video to be banned and the song to be removed from Eminem’s album.

25. This may sound like adding fuel to the fire, But Eminem wrote the hook for “Just Lose It” in 30 seconds.

26. In Eminem’s drug abuse phase, he reportedly has taken as much as 60 Valium pills and 30 Buckingham pills a day. And on one occasion, Eminem took so much methadone doctors informed him that it was equivalent to 4 bags of heroin and that his organs were beginning to shut down. Everyone expected him to die, But Marshall Bruce Mathers the 3rd pulled through and lived to rap another day.

27. During these dark days, Eminem’s diet was almost fast food every day and ballooned to a weight of roughly 230 pounds. His weight gain was so drastic that people stopped recognizing him. Eminem himself remarked, on one occasion he overheard two teenagers arguing about whether or not he was the real Eminem, With one of them concluding he couldn’t have been because Eminem ain’t fat.

28. When Eminem realized he needed to get clean. He ended up calling music icon Elton John for help.
It was Elton John who helped him kick his addiction to Vicodin, Ambien, and other prescription drugs over the next year and a half.

29. During the rehab, Eminem took solace in his faithful hobby superhero comics. As reading Comics helped him fill the void left by alcohol and pills.

30. Eminem gave his manager Paul Rosenberg one of the Grammys that he won in 2000.
